Anywhere in Hongdae
In Hongdae the indie scene is anywhere you want it to be. Hanging out, making music, relaxing, partying all blend into one state of creative being that is happening everywhere. From the bathroom to the rooftop; it’s not about where you are it’s about what you make it.
Jeong Min and Mi Suk from the band Look & Listen share a one bedroom flat in the main area of Hongdae. They recently quit their day jobs to work on recording an album, so their days are filled with hanging out and making music. They’ve been experimenting with their sound in every room of the tiny flat, even the bathroom!
The band Pony goes out with their fans to an old traditional Korean pub after a show. Even though their band has grown quite popular they hang out just like any other kids, sharing drinks, making jokes, and showing off their gymnastics. Fans and friends blur together, everyone is part of the scene, living and breathing it together.
Playgirl (Sora, Danbi, EunByul) is nothing like a proper band yet, but they are working on their first EP with Jinma and Bobe of Beatball Records. When these crazy members gather together, everything suddenly becomes so fun and bubbly. They were supposed to practice and have a serious meeting but instead they ended up on the roof top, playing with instruments and dancing under the beautiful Hongdae sunshine.
